Matthew Krichman, El Presidente

Race director for the Thirsty 13 Half Marathon, Turkey Trot, Steamworks Half Marathon, Mountain Marmot, Uncle Clyde’s and Muck & Mire. Quintessential back-of-the-pack runner and poster child for the phrase “Because they told me there’d be beer at the finish line.” Proud father and dog lover.

Robert Marks.jpg

Robert Marks, Vice President

Robert loves running of all surfaces and distances, but has a particular love of being in the mountains. Recently, he combined two of his hobbies, running and fly fishing, as a way to explore more. You can often find him leading our Thursday morning runs.

Steve Fenster.jpg

Steve Fenster, Treasurer

Steve manages the money for the club. In his other life, he holds a doctorate in Cell Biology and is a Professor of Biology and Associate Dean at Fort Lewis College. He has been a competetive runner for over 36 years and continues to compete at the Master’s level. He also enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and exploring the Four Corners area with his wife, Cate.

Karis Morrall, Communications Director

Karis is responsible for updating the DRC club newsletter, showcasing some of our incredible members, and keeping everyone informed of happenings around the club! Originally from a tiny farm town in the upper Midwest, she fled for the mountains as soon as she could. She lives in Durango with her husband, Loren, their toddler Jack, and dog Lucky.

Avery Perryman Sheldon.jpg

Avery Perryman Sheldon, Membership Director

Avery has lived in Durango on and off for almost 15 years. Her love of the mountains, the tight-knit community and running keeps her coming back. She enjoys hiking, running, hot yoga, cycling, snowboarding and anything else that can keep her moving. She and her husband have a 4 year old Plott Hound they are still trying to turn into a running companion. He prefers long naps and a good bone. A speech language pathologist by trade, Avery loves to communicate with others, so when you see her, be sure to say hi!

Matt Griffis.jpg

Matt Griffis, Pub Run Coordinator, Equipment Manager

Matt leads the Winter Pub Runs and manages the Club’s extensive race equipment storage locker. He runs to keep in shape so he can climb mountains and prefers running with others to running alone. Matt has lived in Durango for nearly a decade and works in land and wildlife conservation on 5 continents (but mostly from behind his computer).

Tim Funk.jpg

Tim Funk, Trail Run Coordinator

Tim leads the Wednesday night trail runs, the Saturday long runs, and is the keeper of the DRC beer cooler. He spends as much time as possible running the trails in and near Durango with his old mutt and young girlfriend. Tim works as a professional wetland scientist and is lucky enough to spend time in the mountains for both work and play. He is also the proud father of a college student enrolled at CU-Denver.

Lorna Campbell, Sponsorship Coordinator

Lorna works with Durango’s businesses to confirm amazing discounts and deals for DRC members (check them out!) Originally from Australia, Lorna spent most of the past 20 years bouncing between Melbourne and the flat, swampy lands of Houston before moving to Durango with her Colorado-born husband and two mutts in 2020. As a geologist, Lorna loves to admire the rocks while exploring the mountain trails on foot or by bike, and mostly manages to stay upright. Lorna played touch rugby for many years and has always been an avid runner, but is particularly enjoying running longer and higher, and meeting the local community through DRC.
